  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup liquid glucose or light corn syrup
  • Few drops black gel food coloring
  • 6 Granny Smith apples (fresh and unwaxed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by greasing baking paper on a tray.
  2. Insert bamboo skewers into the apples securely.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, liquid glucose, and black food coloring over medium heat. Stir until dissolved.
  4. Stop stirring and let the mixture cook until it reaches hard crack stage at 150ºC (310ºF).
  5. Carefully dip each apple into the hot caramel until fully coated and allow excess to drip off.
  6. Place the dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.
