  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup for glaze
  • 1–2 tbsp milk for glaze
  • 1 tbsp melted butter for glaze
  • Pinch of salt for glaze

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet mixture until just mixed.
  3. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Roll chilled dough into balls and place on baking sheets with space in between.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are slightly underbaked.
  7. Cool on baking sheet briefly before transferring to wire rack.
  8. For glaze, mix powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and milk until smooth; drizzle over cooled cookies.
