  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, for sprinkling on top
  • 1/2 cup cold butter in cubes (or vegan butter)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk, any kind
  • 1 teaspoon milk, for top

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, sea salt, and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  3. Cut cold butter into the mixture until it resembles small peas.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough into a circle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush with milk and sprinkle sugar on top.
  7. Cut into wedges and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
